My passion for psychology started in the 9th grade when I realized the deep impact of being a listener and helper. Growing up in Brooklyn New York I have witnessed a huge need for children and youngsters who grew up in a negative environment. I was fortunate to leave that environment willingly and become the woman I am today. This isn’t true for many others I know.
In the past 7 years, as a therapist, I have grown in knowledge in depression, anger, anxiety and ADHD. My focus has been treating children, teens and families in these areas along with enhancing family communication and relationships. I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and then attended the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and obtained a degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology.
My passion for serving within my community started at Lakeside (now Aspire) where I learned to assess for suicidal lethality, assessed for inpatient criteria and crisis intervention. I had the privilege of helping client’s via pro bono therapy, crisis counseling and inpatient stabilization. I then pursued my inner passion of working with kids as a children’s therapist at Lakeside where I serve now as a contract therapist in an elementary school and in the hospital. Here I have developed my knowledge of group therapy, enhancing working relationships with teachers and helping children en vivo, in school situations.
I also opened up a practice in Oviedo where I can further serve client’s in a holistic way. The journey toward becoming licensed was difficult at times and thankfully I had supportive peers and mentors who guided me along the way. I am optimistic that I can be that for this group as being a helper isn’t just in the field or in our practices but with fellow therapists new and old.
