The Beginning CounselorBiography
New counselors have different needs than experienced ones. We’re unsure of ourselves, and entering a whole new world with new rules. It’s easy to forget how scary that is once a counselor has been in practice for a few years.
That’s why we need each other. I wouldn’t have survived my practicum and internship without my fantastic supervisor and counseling intern friends. I want EVERY new counselor to have that opportunity.
This is a social networking site developed exclusively for new counselors. Even if you are studying online, have a horrendous supervisor, or are practicing in a remote area, you can still have access to support and encouragement from others who are going through the same thing you are.
The purpose of this site is to link new counselors with their peers, and with experienced counselors who wish to provide mentorship. It is also to ask questions and have them answered, and hear about the latest information relevant to beginning counselors. It’s a site to help you belong, and give you an anchor as you explore the many different nuances of your new career.

The Counselor EntrepreneurBiography
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2007. The entrepreneurial bug bit me in 2008. Dreaming BIG can be a bit scary at times! I guess you could say I was a Caution Counselor Entrepreneur until around 2010. (read about different types of entrepreneurs, here)
In 2010 I started my entrepreneurial journey by starting my own counseling practice, http://www.healingpsychotherapyga.com. Since the beginning of my private practice journey, I have spent countless hours researching marketing methods, networking with other mental health clinicians, and getting regular consultation.
In 2013, I began “The Online Mentoring Program for Counselors.” Fortunately, I had the opportunity to collaborate with other great therapists on that project. Later that same year, The Counselor Entrepreneur was born.

Biography
H! My name is David Taylor and I appreciate your visit to my site. I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Ball State University. I also hold a license in Mental Health Counseling in the state of Florida and I am certified as a Life Coach. I have 10 years of clinical experience working with clients ranging from juvenile sex offenders to adults dealing with depression and anxiety. I own my own private practice, I have served as a keynote speaker on numerous occasions, presented at multiple conferences and seminars and I have written multiple articles for magazine and newspaper publications. I have also built over 7 different websites, blog on a daily basis and I have an audio podcast that I host. That’s all of the boring stuff though…
The interesting things about me are the following: I really would like to be a super hero one day, I have 2 dogs (a boxer and a shih tzu, I have a lovely wife, no kids and I love adding value to others. I truly believe that I was born to help others discover their unique gifts and qualities. It is from this belief that Private Practice Starter arose.
